This piece aims to highlight the disappearance of Irish woodlands

Forest plantations provide an opportunity to support biodiversity, but unfortunately native broadleaf species are not always planted. Instead, dense Sitka spruce plantations are used, often creating a thick canopy blocking sunlight from above, leaving a murky brown hollow desert below, void of biodiversity.
